“The mingling of real life and imaginary life, of present and past, of probability and improbability” - David Campany
Through the blending of images from my parents albums I explore the affinities and differences between their past lives. The visual empathy of the images allowing me to create imaginary scenarios that not only cross the line of probability and improbability, but also past and present. They become illusory yet rational beings within the snapshots of each other’s lives.
The concept and visual nature of the images challenges the medium of family album photography, as the archetypal family snapshot is changed by the merging of two separate collections. This union reflects the idea of simultaneity; two separate events happening at the same time and brought together within one frame.
